Hello there and Happy New Year!
I hope that your holiday break was awesome, that 2022 is already galloping in the direction you wish, and that the coming year provides all that you wish for.
Kicktraq Link
Please spam this link as much as possible in the final couple of days as we chase this beautiful campaign to its close, it will help give us that final momentum push over the finish line:
Future Plans: Kilforth Art Book and Big Box Storage
As we've already seen and discussed, lots of people want lots of different things from the campaign, but two of the biggest repeat requests we've had are for a Kilforth art book, and for a big box storage solution for all 3 Kilforth games and their various expansions. I'm happy to tell you that we're officially working on both, but these are not things I want to rush. With that in mind, whilst these will hopefully make a future appearance in the updates and the pledge manager I don't intend to offer either of these in the last few days of this campaign. Particularly with a Big Box solution the price varies hugely depending on how it's built and what it contains – we still have plenty of time before the games are delivered, so we want to make sure that it's everything it can be whilst also being cost effective for everyone (same goes for the artbook).
Our friends at jellop wanted to share this gif they've assembled of some of the lovely things you guys have been saying about the campaign. Once again I'd like to thank you so much for all of the wonderful things you've said about us and our games. I don't take a single day of being a game designer for granted, I hope I get to keep doing this for many years to come, and receiving feedback like this is reassurance that we're doing some things right along the way! :D
Kilforth legends Canje and Excusitis play through Gloom of Kilforth in this detailed livestream. This isn't just a play-through though, you'll be able to pick up tips from a couple of veterans who know what they're doing, and it's a great testament to the stories you can conjure in the world of Kilforth:
As we head towards the end of this Kickstarter I wish you all love and peace, and I hope you have a brilliant week!

Call of Kilforth, Day 15 – Miniature Comparisons, Rules Spoilers, New Tales Arrived!
– Thu, Dec 30, 2021 at 12:48:24 AM
Hello there,
£187,310 pledged 1,554 backers 9 days to go!!
New Tales and Kilforth Promo Pack
Merry Christmas everyone! The Pre-Production Copies for the Shadows of KIlforth: New Tales expansion pack and the Gloom of Kilforth Promo Pack 1 have just arrived, so Santa visited Hall or Nothing HQ early. Did I even mention that New Tales also comes with EIGHT gorgeous standees?? We've had to make the box even bigger than the pictured box just to fit them all in!
Shadows of KIlforth: New Tales
Gloom of Kilforth Promo Pack 1
35mm Miniature Comparisons
There have been some requests for scale comparisons of the miniatures. Our example miniatures are 3D printed prototypes but are on scale with the final output (the final minis should actually be even better quality), so here they are in comparison to Games Workshop' Blackstone Fortress 35mm miniatures, with Kilforth minis on the left and GW on the right:
Kilforth on the left, Games Workshop on the right
Kilforth on the left, Games Workshop on the right
Rules Spoilers
Some of you have asked about the diceless elements of Call of Kilforth and whilst there's more to it than the below, I'm sharing the new 'Endeavour' Deed from Call of Kilforth because you can easily roll it out to your existing games of Shadows of Kilforth and Gloom of Kilforth too...
DEED: ENDEAVOUR
Restriction: Hero is making a Test in which they roll at least 3 dice.
The hero reduces the number of dice they roll by 3 in order to gain 1 automatic success. e.g. a hero with Sneak 7 makes a Sneak Test: they reduce the number of dice rolled from 7 dice to 4 dice, in order to gain 1 automatic success in that Test. Alternatively, they could choose to reduce the number of dice rolled from 7 dice to 1 die, in order to gain 2 automatic successes.
HP in Kilforth represents how physically capable your hero is, with the idea being that the more injuries you are suffering from, the less you are able to achieve in a day. So at the start of each day you gain Action Points equal to your HP. And whilst personally I love a punishing game, this can be frustrating for heroes who get taken out early and have to spend a day or two just resting to recover their health. So in Call of Kilforth we're introducing the Long Rest Action to speed up this process. Again, this is something you can easily roll out to your existing Kilforth games...
ACTION: LONG REST
Restriction: Hero must be at a location with no encountersand have fewer HP than their maximum health, and this has to be the first and only Action the hero takes this day.
The hero discards all Action Points and restores their HP to their maximum (by transferring HP tokensfrom the token pile to their play area). They do not regain anyAction Points.
And that's all for now – I hope that you're all lined up for a brilliant New Year and that you'll be fully rested and ready to absolutely smash 2022 come January. :)
Cheers!

Call of Kilforth, Day 10 – Who Hall or Nothing??
– Fri, Dec 24, 2021 at 01:21:56 AM
Hello there,
Before I start, let me reassure you that I fully intend to stay away from your inbox as much as possible over Christmas! I just have a couple of things to mention before diving into a boatload of mince pies, mulled wine, and an ensuing food coma...
Your Lovely Feedback
Our friends at Jellop sent out a survey to you about the campaign, which is a great way for us to gauge the type of things we can improve on in the future and ascertain your feedback about the campaign and our games, etc. But one of the unexpected side effects is getting dizzy from reading so many really lovely compliments from you about what we do as a company – I wish I could respond to every sentence, my eyes were misting up! Thank you so much for all of your support - you guys absolutely rawk! \m/
We've spoilt so many aspects of our games in advance in the past that I'm trying to move further away from that now and keep surprises back for when the games arrive. For our previous games we have copious videos, and the rulebooks available online, and a million art spoilers, but for me as a gamer one of the most exciting moments in gaming is opening that board game for the first time, about which you know very little, and discovering all the new stuff. Indeed, my own personal feelings on this are driving us to develop at least one particular game in the future about which we will be revealing almost nothing before release. BUT, I understand from the point of view of you guys, you're investing in a product and you want an assurance of quality. Many of you are returning backers who I believe trust in our pedigree, but many of you are new to Hall or Nothing and want to see the goods, or you might be returning backers who just want to see new stuff. So feel free to let me know your thoughts on this either way in the comments, and what aspects you'd most like spoiled about Call of Kilforth, and we'll see about maybe teasing out more stuff as the campaign continues. :)
As mentioned above, there are a lot of new faces here, which is absolutely fantastic to see - welcome everybody! This section is for those of you who would like to know a bit more about us (Hall or Nothing) and who you are supporting. As Brits, Francesca and I naturally find it difficult to talk about ourselves and big up our company – it's all about trying to find that natural balance of showing your passion for what you do whilst expressing a little humility and self-awareness. And as the game designer I tend to be the one stumbling my way through the conversations about who we are and what we do, whilst Francesca gets on with all of the clever legal/accounts/logistics type things behind the scenes that actually keep us functioning smoothly as a company. So my absolute favourite article about us is this rare interview Francesca did with the lovely Morten Monrad Pedersen – please have a read of The (maybe not) suffering spouse of a board game publisher: Francesca Hall and Shadows of Kilforth...
And that's hall for now – we'll check back in again before the New Year, but in the meantime we hope this holiday season brings you peace, joy, quality time with your loved ones, and maybe a tasty bit of gaming goodness too. :)

Call of Kilforth, Day 6 – Kicktraq, Videos, Music!
– Tue, Dec 21, 2021 at 12:02:27 AM
Hello there,
Hope you're off to a lovely start to the week - let's have a nice brew and a catch up...
Kicktraq Link!
It will really help boost the campaign if you can save this as your bookmark for the campaign page from now on - i.e. click this link instead of any other to get to the Kickstarter page and it will push us up the all important Kicktraq rankings:
There have been several requests for a Gameplay All-In bundle without the miniatures. I'm reluctant to over-complicate the campaign by adding even more pledge levels, especially at this stage. Trying to identify what Gameplay All-In means to each person is a complex issue. To some, it's strictly new gameplay content across all three games. To others it's only the gameplay content for Call of Kilforth. And to other people it means everything without miniatures, including the Deluxe expansions. Whereas to others it means all of this, but add the playmat...
I don't think one pledge is going to satisfy everyone's wants, which is why everything in this campaign is available as an add-on – feel free to personalise your pledge as much as you like. You could, for example, just pledge for Call of Kilforth and then select anything from the campaign as an add-on. :)
Many of you have identified that we are offering the miniatures at a truly insane discount – we are very hungry to see the beautiful Kilforth Miniatures join the Kilforth collection!
Kilforth Ratings on BGG
I can't overstate how helpful it is for you to rate our games on boardgamegeek.com – if you have played either of the previous two Kilforth games and have the opportunity to give them a mark out of ten (and maybe leave a comment too) that would be incredible:
We know Kilforth is a beloved IP and so this is yet another avenue for you guys to let the wider world know this too. It's pretty bloomin' cool being Tabletop Gaming's Best Kept Secret but it does mean that we have to work much harder to get the word out about what we're doing! :D
Music of Kilforth
For those of you who don't already know, Francesca composes, arranges and plays all of our soundtracks. Here's the entire original piano sound track for Gloom of Kilforth:
It's an absolute blessing to listen to Francesca play whilst I'm designing game worlds. For Call of Kilforth she arranged and played a piece called Blue. This is the first time she has used a piece by another composer (Mike Gibbons) – we both loved it so much that we felt we had to use it for the Kilforth soundtrack. I think you'll agree that the song is both unique and ethereal:
Videos
These guys have been shouting about us on YouTube so it seems only fair to share their links - even more brilliant to see some of you guys popping up in their comments too! :D
GloryHoundd (34m, 11s)
Liege of Games (00m,45s)
And for our lovely French fans, Les Rois de Trefle has been doing a whole Gloom play-through to dovetail with the campaign:
And that's all for today - ciao for now!
Tristan xx
PS. No spoilers, but Spider-Man: No Way Home is utterly brilliant! :D
What's this??
Call of Kilforth, Day 3 - Project We Love!
– Fri, Dec 17, 2021 at 08:30:49 PM
Hello there,
If you're anything like me you'll love a clear and sorted inbox, so this is just a super quick one to keep your emails uncluttered and to say thank you again for all of your comments, support and love – you guys are absolutely smashing it! So much so in fact that Kickstarter has bestowed us with the much vaunted Project We Love badge...
I mean, this is a coincidence because we really love this project too! :D
If you guys could share this campaign on social media we'd be super appreciative. Even though Call of Kilforth has already smashed our expectations we don't take a single moment for granted, and every tweet or shout-out you can spare helps boost the campaign enormously, which as you know lets us continue doing what we love to do.
Hope you're having a brilliant week and that you manage to get some quality gaming in. Our little one has discovered the joys of Dark Souls so I'm hoping to help him smite some bosses this week at some point. :D
