over 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 31, 2022 at 11:32:05 PM

Hello there,

Gen Con 2022

I had such a brilliant time at Gen Con. The business meetings were fun, but it was so cool getting to meet wonderful people and actually sit and play games too. Thanks so much to everyone who spent time with me - I've never been bought so many drinks and meals! Made me feel very special, and I hope to be back again next year. Here's a quick photo dump (there's about a hundred more on Facebook!):

Caleb Grace, Corey Konieczka, Brady Sadler, and some lucky schmuck
Caleb Grace (Lord of the Rings LCG designer) was kind enough to invite me for a game
Eric bloomin' Lang!
Ryan flippin' Laukat!
"Broadswoarrd!!"

Call of Kilforth, August 2022 – Development + Videos + Gen Con + Tabletop Gaming Live
over 1 year ago – Mon, Aug 01, 2022 at 05:26:25 AM

Hello there,

Game Development

Development continues at a pace! The miniatures have already been finalised for all 3 Kilforth games, and now I'm just waiting for the factory to send me the final mold samples...

Here are a few component teasers from Call of Kilforth that haven't yet been finalised:

Sea Dog Ship
Doom Guard Ship

These (and many more) ship tokens will be distributed across the Map before the game starts and your current allegiance will determine if and how you interact with them when you land on them. And of course you'll need your own ship too...

Ship Card Background (without text)

Tabletop Gaming Live

If you're in the UK and you haven't already, make sure you've got your tickets booked for Tabletop Gaming Live. We will be there to support and exhibit at Tabletop Gaming Live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester 17th - 18th September 2022:

https://www.tabletopgaming.co.uk/information/tabletop-gaming-live

Though we won't have a booth at GenCon 2022 I will be there in attendance as a punter and would love to meet friendly gamers for a fist bump and a chat about games so let me know if you're going.

We've got some more brilliant Kilforth video content to share with you too...

Canje and Stephen Play Gloom of Kilforth Hard Mode

Agent Solo Runthroughs

Agent Solo Runthroughs ventures into Kilforth as an assassin halfling to take on the Prince of Ruin...

And that's all for now. I'm sending this one a day early as I'm packing for Gen Con – I hope to see you at Gen Con if you're going, and have a fantastic week ahead either way.

Cheers!

Call of Kilforth – July 2022, Art + Conventions + Media!
over 1 year ago – Sun, Jul 03, 2022 at 01:17:16 PM

Hello there,

Progress continues steadily on Call of Kilforth and I have to say it's a real joy to be working on. Here is some more teaser art for your hungry eyes:

UK Games Expo + GenCon + Tabletop Gaming Live

We were so to proud to exhibit and support the biggest gaming convention in the UK, and we met so many really lovely people at UK Games Expo. Thanks so much to everyone who made the time to come visit our stand. It was fantastic to meet so many new people, some who'd never heard of us, some who had, and many who were already supporters. You had us hoarse not just from blathering about our games, but from laughter too – a truly excellent weekend.

Don't forget, we will also be back to support and exhibit at Tabletop Gaming Live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester 17th - 18th September 2022:

https://www.tabletopgaming.co.uk/information/tabletop-gaming-live

Though we won't have a booth at GenCon 2022 I will be there in attendance as a punter and would love to meet friendly gamers for a fist bump and a chat about games so let me know if you're going.

Media: Senet + Tabletop Gaming Magazine

The latest issue of Senet – the most beautiful tabletop gaming magazine in the world – is now available. Amongst the many fantastic contributions and reviews in each issue, they also let me write a regular column about game design for those who are interested. You can subscribe here:

https://senetmagazine.com/collections/current-issue/products/issue-8-summer-2022

Also, the latest issue of Tabletop Gaming Magazine – the most popular tabletop gaming magazine in the world – is now available too. I don't have a regular column in TGM, but they sometimes let me contribute, and for this Middle-earth themed issue they asked me to write a big article about one of my favourite games of all time The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, which I play-tested, and wrote a bunch of fan-made 'ninjadorg' scenarios for. You can subscribe (or squint really hard at the photo below) to read my musings in TGM here:

Gloom of Kilforth in Another Top 5!

Call of Kilforth, June 2022 – Miniatures + Awards + UKGE!
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 31, 2022 at 08:58:52 PM

Hello there, I hope this missive finds you safe and well!

We've a fair bit to get through this time so grab yourself a nice mug of Glook and settle in...

Miniatures!

The tooling masters for all of the miniatures are ready! And the resin prototypes of ALL the Kilforth miniatures have arrived at last at Hall or Nothing HQ – and they look flippin' fantastic:

The material used for these masters is not the final mass production material. The tooling masters use a special resin mix, which allows for the highest details, but in exchange is very brittle and fragile. The final PVC material we use in mass production is more flexible and therefore the final minis can withstand an accidental drop from the table, while these resin tooling masters cannot.

I've also uploaded a whole bunch of photos of the rest of the miniatures which you can see for yourselves in our google drive here:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/17pvIY4lpAgpkSCgVeULt_31XbKd-keLc?usp=sharing

Kicking yourself for not ordering the miniatures?

No problem, simply email me at [email protected] with whichever pack(s) you'd like to order and I'll add them to your pledge when I get back from UK Games Expo next week – it'd be crazy for people to miss out on these beauties.

UK Games Expo, GenCon, and Tabletop Gaming Live!

Now that the world is steadily opening back up for us we'll be out and about and looking to see you in person if we get the chance. To that end we are proudly sponsoring and exhibiting our stands at UK Games Expo next week, as well as Tabletop Gaming Live at Victoria Warehouse, Manchester 17th - 18th September 2022, and though we won't have a booth at GenCon I will be attending as a punter and would love to meet friendly gamers for a fist bump and a chat about games.

How will you find us at UK Games Expo? We're just a hop, a skip, and a jump from the main entrance – Stand 1-1016, on Kilforth Street, naturally:

Awards

We are also delighted to announce that our epic end of the world solo campaign card game Veilwraith was awarded the Bronze Meeple for Best Solo Mode, in the 3rd Annual BGR Meeple's Choice Awards:

Best Board Games of All Time

Shadows of Kilforth features in another "Best Board Games of All Time" list, this one from Bored Online? Board Offline! :)

Mark Chaplin's 'Where Humans Don't Belong'

We're dead excited to announce that the legendary and lovely Mark Chaplin – the mighty designer of Lifeform – will be making a guest appearance at our stand at UK Games Expo. He'll be previewing elements of his upcoming game Where Humans Don't Belong, which we are super giddy about. Note that this is not a Hall or Nothing game – Mr Chaplin is launching his own Kickstarter for the game soon – but as both fans and friends we're delighted to give Where Humans Don't Belong a signal boost:

Call of Kilforth – May 2022: UKGE 2022 Stand 1-1016
almost 2 years ago – Tue, May 03, 2022 at 11:55:05 PM

Hello there,

Progress continues at a pace on Call of Kilforth, and the art is so flippin cool so I'm going to spoil one of the images from the game for you:

Okay, maybe two:

UKGE

Just a reminder that UKGE is happening next and Hall or Nothing will be sponsoring the convention and in attendance at Stand 1-1016 on Kilforth Street. We would love to see you there so please pop by to say 'wotcha' should you have the opportunity. We have a small amount of stock for the expo, and we will be demoing the pre-production copy of 1815, Scum of the Earth:

https://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/

Had a mega fanboy moment when the great Martin Wallace came to check out our stand last time we exhibited

Spite Hammers CCG

Thanks to those of you who asked, and to confirm: yes, the Spite Hammers LCG featuring my own terrible illustrations was of course an April Fool. It would directly contravene the entirety of our company motto: Hall Or Nothing delivers thematic tabletop games with world-class art where quality cannot be compromised – not to mention the difficulty of actually implementing the nuanced Tennis Rackets and Teapots™ system! :D

And that's all for now, cheers!
